About

A small notebook, kept in public.

Northline Notes is a personal engineering log about the parts of software that are easy to draw and hard to operate: routing, proxies, queues, clocks, and the on-call habits that make them survivable.

I write here when a debugging session produces a sentence I want to keep. Posts are short by design. If something takes more than a sitting to explain, it probably belongs in a different format.

What you will find

Field reports from running small fleets, explanations of network behaviour that surprised me, and tool notes that are deliberately boring. No product announcements, no affiliate links, no engagement bait.
